How does a young Dutchman end up running a gourmet nut business in the USA and converting it into a successful Gourmet and Specialty Food and Gift business?
 It really all began in 1959 in a town called Bussum, The Netherlands. Food, fashion, colors and design have always been a major part of my life. The short version is simple. Growing up in an entrepreneurial dynasty gives you the international business bug. From the family business in the eighties to The Gillette Co. in the nineties. Moving as an expatriate for a wonderful company like Gillette is an honor and a thrill. But moving six times in nine years (once within a few months of moving in) to different countries became a little bit too much. Particularly as our two baby girls were growing up.
After leaving Gillette at the end of 1997, the opportunity to stay in the US came along when Carolyn's Pecans was for sale. 
When you taste the original award-winning Sweet & Salty Pecans you know that the decision to finally own my own business was not that difficult. The first Summer Fancy Food Show in New York was the clincher and the deal was a fact. And...Carolyn's Gourmet was born.
When in 2000 Victorian Treats, a local Toffee company came up for sale it was an easy decision due to the synergies of the two product lines, notably its high quality and uniqueness of flavor and texture. The next step was taken.
 Since 1998 we have been growing the company steadily and are enjoying competition, to stay on our toes with regard to quality, innovation of packaging and flavor and a touch of Europe.
40ParkLane, or Parklaan 40 where I grew up, together with Parklaan 32 down the road where my grandma lived, played a major role in the development of my quality of life, family life and values and the knowledge and appreciation of delectable foods and drinks.
Both addresses will always be a major part of my life and stay in my heart forever.
We at 40ParkLane hope that we can bring you a little bit of the European lifestyle and family values by recommending to enjoy our unique and innovative gourmet treats and gifts as well as our condiments with family, friends or colleagues.
Take your time, share stories and have fun. Like when we were kids at Parklaan 40 and 32 when we were not addicted to TV, computers or cell-phones and our food was slow food, enjoyed in each others company.
